30 years of prison, 30 years of resistance !

Georges Abdallah, aged 62 is a Lebanese communist activist. He was arrested in 1984 in Lyon, France and sentenced to life imprisonment for actions that were claimed by the Lebanese Armed Revolutionary Factions (LARF). October 24th 2013 will be the beginning of his 30th year of detention.

He is a resistant who fought against Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1978. He especially fought as a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, against Palestinian occupation.

He finished the prison term without remission since 1999. The fact that he is still imprisoned is because of a political choice of the French state supported by Israel and the U.S. About that, the DST ( French secret services), declared in 2007 « as an emblematic leading figure of the anti-zionist struggle, the release of Georges Abdallah would undoubtedly be a major event. He will probably be celebrated as a hero by the people, back in Lebanon, but also by various movement involved in the revolutionnary struggle ».

The eighth application for a release on parole was overruled on April 2013, after numerous manœuvres -both political and judicial. This shows well the intentions not to release him. Because he has always remained an implacable anti-imperialist and pro-palestinian activist,and because he has never gone back to his opinions, he has to suffer from that doggedness.

In Lebanon, in the Arab world, as well as in Europe and in the rest of the world, the struggle for his release intensifies. Because only a strong popular mobilization will free Georges Abdallah.

We call to a gathering as wide as possible, on Saturday 26th October 2013 at 2 pm in the city of Lannemezan (Hautes-Pyrénnées), in front of the prison where he is confined. To quote him « Together, comrades, we will triumph, and only together we will triumph »

Palestine will live, Palestine will win !
